Navigation

SEO Glossary

A navigation helps visitors to easily find content on a Web site. Typical navigation elements include a menu bar on top of a page, an index on the left side of a page, or a sitemap. Search engines use navigational structures for indexing web site content. However, it is often too complicated to crawl and index JavaScript or Flash-based navigation structures. Therefore, the use of a XML sitemap or HTML based elements on the Web page is recommended.
